Business consulting that actually changes how you operate

We work with owner-managed and mid-market companies across Greater Manchester. Our focus is on the operational detail most consultancies gloss over: margin leakage, sluggish decision-making, and growth plans that stall at the spreadsheet stage.

How an engagement works

Every project follows four stages. We keep them tight because drawn-out discovery phases waste your budget.

1

Diagnostic call (45 minutes, no charge)

We listen to what you think the problem is, then ask questions designed to test that assumption. By the end of the call we can usually tell you whether we are the right fit, and roughly what the project would cost. If we are not the right people, we will say so.

2

On-site review (1–3 weeks)

A lead consultant spends time inside your business. They sit in on meetings, pull management accounts, interview team leads, and map your processes. The output is a written findings document, not a slide deck full of stock photography.

3

Recommendations workshop

We present findings to your leadership team in a half-day session. Each recommendation includes the expected financial impact, the effort required, and who inside your organisation should own it. You leave with a ranked action list, not a vague strategy statement.

4

Implementation support (optional, 3–12 months)

If you want hands-on help executing the plan, one of our consultants joins your team part-time. They attend your weekly leadership meeting, track KPIs against the action list, and flag blockers early. Billing is monthly with a 30-day exit clause on either side.

What we do

Six practice areas. Each one staffed by people who have done the job, not just advised on it.

Operational audit

We trace every pound of cost through your business and identify where margin is leaking. Typical engagement length is three weeks. Clients in manufacturing and distribution usually find savings worth 6–11% of annual overhead within the first review cycle.

Financial planning and analysis

Monthly management packs, rolling forecasts, scenario models. We build the reporting infrastructure owner-managers need to make decisions faster. If your current accounts arrive six weeks after month-end, this is where we start.

Growth strategy

Market sizing, competitor mapping, pricing architecture, channel selection. We help you decide where to grow next and, just as importantly, where not to. Our growth plans include cash-flow projections so you know what funding the plan requires before you commit.

Leadership and team development

Hiring the right senior people is half the battle. We design role specifications, run structured interview processes, and build onboarding plans that cut the typical ramp-up time from six months to three. For existing teams, we run quarterly capability reviews tied to business objectives.

Process and systems improvement

We map your workflows, spot bottlenecks, and redesign processes before you spend money on software. Too many businesses buy a new platform and then force old habits into it. We fix the habits first, then help you select the right tool.

Commercial due diligence

Buying a business? We assess the target's revenue quality, customer concentration risk, and margin sustainability. Our reports are written for lenders and investors, not just the buyer. Typical turnaround is ten working days from data-room access.

Common questions

Most of our clients generate between £2m and £40m in annual revenue. Some are family-owned, others are private-equity backed. The common thread is that they have outgrown the informal management style that got them to this point and need structured processes without the overhead of a Big Four engagement.

A diagnostic review starts at £4,500 for a single-site business. Longer implementation projects are priced monthly, usually between £3,000 and £8,000 per month depending on the consultant's time commitment. We quote fixed fees wherever possible because open-ended billing creates the wrong incentives.

Yes. About a third of our current clients are based elsewhere in the North West or the Midlands. We prefer to be on-site at least one day per week during the review phase, so proximity matters, but we have run successful projects as far south as Birmingham and as far north as Edinburgh.

Good. Disagreement usually means we have found something worth debating. The recommendations workshop is designed for exactly this. We present the evidence, you challenge it, and we revise the plan together. A recommendation you do not believe in will never be implemented properly, so we would rather adjust it now.

We are not a corporate finance house, so we do not broker deals or take success fees. What we can do is prepare the business plan, financial model, and management presentation that lenders and investors expect to see. We also have referral relationships with several debt and equity providers in the North West and can make introductions.

Talk to us

The diagnostic call is free and takes 45 minutes. If we think we can help, we will send a written scope and fixed-fee quote within five working days.
